Herbert Gayle
Herbert Gayle is a social anthropologist and lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work at The University of the West Indies. Gayle is the only trained anthropologist of social violence in the Caribbean with years of experience living with and studying youth gangs in Jamaica, other Caribbean countries, Central America, the United States and Europe. He has impacted policies in three Caribbean states to reduce violence, has been consulted by law firms on social violence across four regions and contributes to over 20 international media houses including BBC, Associated Press, Reuters, and L’Equipe 21.
