Nelson ‘Chris’ Stokes
Nelson 'Chris' Stokes is the founder and executive chairman of NCS Enterprises, a group of companies focusing on financial services, thought leadership and sports administration. He is the first vice president for the Jamaica Olympic Association and is a four-time Olympian as a member of the Jamaica bobsleigh team. Stokes is currently chairman of the Jamaica Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation. His book, ‘Cool Runnings and Beyond – the Story of the Jamaican Bobsleigh Team’ is the definitive history of this renowned Jamaican brand. Additionally, he does team building and leadership training, in English and Spanish for corporations worldwide under his knowledge-based business, nchristianstokes.com, and has delivered high impact key-note speeches to a wide variety of audiences worldwide. Stokes is a PhD candidate in economic development policy at the University of the West Indies, and holds an MBA in Finance from Washington State University, a BSc in finance from the University of Idaho and a post-graduate diploma in banking from the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Stokes has also completed courses of study in Spanish as a foreign language programme at Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia and is fluent. Immediately before starting his own group of companies, Stokes held the position of general manager in the International Business Division at National Commercial Bank, Jamaica Limited (NCB). Prior to joining NCB, he held the post of senior vice-president of business development at the Victoria Mutual Building Society.
